Sual’s coastal waters still positive with red tide

THE Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) confirmed that the coastal waters of Sual town are still affected by red tide.

Its latest Shellfish Bulletin (No. 22) issued on November 28, the recent laboratory analysis conducted by BFAR on samples of shellfishes taken from the coastal waters of Sual, all shellfish and Acetes sp or alamang gathered from the coastal waters of Sual are not safe for human consumption.

BFAR said fish, squids, shrimps and crabs caught in the area are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly and their internal organs removed before cooking.

Meanwhile, the coastal waters of Bolinao, Anda, Alaminos and Wawa Bani continue to be free of toxic red tide. (Leonardo Micua.)
